Birthday cupcake, yum yum yum!

After eating dinner at Pei Wei, we went to Whole Foods to get a strawberry shortcake cupcake for our little birthday boy.  Anders got to stay up late for his birthday celebration (he hadn't taken an afternoon nap, so I was worried)...dessert started WAY after bedtime, but he was STILL the sweetest!
Daddy wearing the birthday hat...
I think he wanted Daddy to keep the hat on...
Blowing out his birthday candle...
Licking the icing off the candle...
Being the good eater that Anders is, I expected him to devour the cupcake.  But instead he wasn't sure what to think about it or how to eat it...

HAPPY Birthday ANDERS!

Today is Ander's Birthday -- he is ONE!

Well I guess not really 1 year old until 2:02pm today.  It has been fun thinking back on this day last year -- the craziness of Todd's journey to make it home, going thru labor and delivery, being told by the nurse that Anders had a head full of hair, and finally seeing Anders for the first time.  So overwhelming and amazing, but on that day both Todd and I were clueless on how much change and joy Anders would bring us this year.   We LOVE you Anders!
His official birthday party is not until next weekend, but we celebrated earlier this week while Daddy was home.  Pam Burrus (our friend who has a baby girl just a couple weeks older than Anders) MADE this birthday hat and personalized bib (you will see the bib in the next blog) -- isn't the hat the CUTEST?!?  The hat and bib both match the monkey party invitations and theme.  Anders is not the biggest fan of wearing the hat.   But after some creative cropping, you can not see his grandma's hands holding down his arms to keep him from yanking it off!  I maybe should not have confessed what was really going on, and just impressed everyone with these shots...

Okay, time to take the hat off :)
More birthday-boy pictures to come later!

Toilet & toothbrush time

So these are some of my favorite pictures right now...

Anders hates diaper changing these days, so Todd & I are always giving him something to play with.  One of his favorite items is Todd's electric toothbrush, and yes we have it on and running...
My mom says that she started putting us on the toilet at 9 or 10 months, so I decided to buy a training-toilet seat and give it a try.  Anders has peed on the toilet about every time and has pooped in it ONE very exciting time.  I am trying to put him on the toilet once a day and just get him used to sitting up there.  So far he really likes it and I think he feels special and like such a "big boy"...

And my FAVORITE...

Breakfast with my little monkey

Since Anders was wearing his monkey pj's, it only seemed appropriate that he eat a banana for breakfast...

Anders LOVES his Daddy

Sweet pictures of Anders having fun with Daddy (he is definitely a Daddy's boy)...

Final blog from S.C. at Grandma & Grandpa's

Anders still loves popsicles (especially lime) and has gotten good at biting chunks off.  Here is his Grandma giving him a special treat...note how she covered him with a towel to make sure no drips got on his outfit...
Anders playing the piano for the first time -- if only I could learn how to post a video so that you could hear his impressive playing...it was beautiful!

My sweet little MESS!

Here is Anders eating breakfast at his Grandma's house.  NOTE that his hair is plastered to his forehead, because of the food he has smeared thru his hair.  Also look at how he has his feet crossed while sitting in the chair, too cute!  Needless to say, a bath was next on the agenda for him!
